Turn Internet Explorer Built-in Pop Up Blocking On/Off

This article includes instructions for the Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker included in Internet Explorer 9 and 10.

Turn pop up blocking on/off:

In order to turn pop up blocking on or off, please follow these instructions:

In the top right hand corner of the screen, click on the gear icon and then click on Internet Options.
Once inside Internet Options click on the Privacy Tab.
The default setting is on, as you can see above. In order to turn it off just click on the box and then press okay.
To turn it back on just click in the box so it shows a check mark again.

Google Chrome Sync Setup

With Google Chrome's sign in feature, you do not need to worry about your bookmarks or apps being in one place only. When you sign in to the Chrome browser or a Chrome device, your bookmarks, tabs, history, and other browser preferences are saved and synced to your Toast Account. You can then load these settings anytime you use Chrome on other computers and devices. Signing into Chrome also makes using Google services, like Gmail, Youtube, and Maps, easier since you'll generally only need to sign in once from your browser. Make sure you sign in to Chrome on each computer/device that should share the same Google Chrome settings.

In order to use this functionality, you must first have Google Chrome installed.

After installing Google Chrome, use the following instructions to setup sync on your computer/device:

Setup:

1. Open Google Chrome.

If it is the very first time opening Google Chrome after the installation, select Skip for now on the following screen

2. Sign in to the TOAST.net Start Page by clicking this link -> Sign In

3. Click the Chrome menu on the toolbar

4. Click Sign in to Chrome

5. Only input your TOAST.net e-mail address on the Sign in screen and click Sign in (password is not needed)

6. In the Confirm sync settings dialog that appears, choose what you want to sync.

Sync everything: Click the OK button.
Choose specific items to sync: Click Advanced and select Choose what to sync from the drop down menu. Select the checkboxes for the items you want to sync:
- Apps from the Chrome Web Store
- Autofill (except for credit card numbers)
- Bookmarks
- Extensions from the Chrome Web Store (except those containing plug-ins)
- History
- Passwords
- Themes
- Open tabs
- Settings

7. Click OK

Remember, do not setup Chrome with your Toast Account on a public or untrusted computer.

Receive error "Security Certificate Has Expired"

The error "The Security Certificate has Expired" means that you are trying to view a secure website (such as email, banking, investments, etc), but the certificate that was assigned to the website is out of date, so you can not proceed.

This error is usually caused by one of three problems:

The time and date on your computer are not set correctly:
- Verify that your time and date are set correctly. Double-click on the Clock to set the correct information.
Bad saved certificate:
- If the problem is only happening on one website, you may have a bad saved certificate. In Internet Explorer, you can remove certificates from particular websites by going to Tools/Internet Options, then under the Content Tab, click the Certificates button.
Try another web browser
- There may be a problem with the way your web browser handles https: websites. Old web browsers (Internet Explorer 5, Firefox 1.x, etc) may experience issues like this. Upgrade your web browser to the latest version.

Web Page Doesn't Work Correctly - Clear Temporary Internet Files

Web browsers store pictures, text,and other downloadable files for frequently visited web sites to improve performance. If you experience problems with a website, you can try clearing these files so fresh copies of the website's files are downloaded. To clear your temporary internet files, follow the steps for your web browser:

Internet Explorer:

Go to Tools > Internet Options.
Click the Delete button under Browsing History.
Place a check next to Temporary Internet Files.
Click the Delete button on the bottom of the screen.

Firefox:

Go to the orange Firefox button, then select Options from the menu.
Select the Advanced category, then choose the Network tab.
Under "Cached Web Content", click Clear Now.

Chrome:

Click the Tools icon in the upper right corner of the browser window and select Settings.
Click the Show Advanced Settings link on the bottom of the screen.
Under the "Privacy" category, click Clear Browsing Data.
Check mark options you wish to clear and click Clear Browsing Data.

Safari:

Go to the Safari menu.
Click on Empty Cache.

Resetting Web Browser Security - Clear Temp Files and Cookies

Web pages that prevent you from logging in or have controls that are not working properly may be trying to use outdated or broken files stored on your computer. To correct this problem, try resetting your web browser:

To reset Microsoft Edge:

Open the Settings menu in the upper right corner of the browser.
Select the Privacy and Security tab.
Under Clear browsing data, select all of the following:
- Cookies and saved website data
- Cached data and files
- Any other options you would like to have reset
Hit the Clear button.

To reset Google Chrome:

Click the 3 vertical dots in the top corner of your browser.
On the dropdown menu, click "Clear Browsing Data...".
Select the data you would like to delete and the time range to be deleted.
Click the Clear data button.
Close Google Chrome and reopen it.

You can also click the advanced tab at the top to select more specific data to be deleted.

To reset Firefox:

Click the Firefox button in the upper left corner of the screen. (Windows XP users may need to locate the Tools menu instead).
On the menu, select History, and then Clear Recent History.
From the drop-down menu, choose Everything.
Click Details, then uncheck everything but Cookies and Cache.
Click Clear Now.
Close and reopen Firefox.

Clearing Saved Passwords in Internet Explorer and Edge

To clear your saved usernames/passwords in Internet Explorer:

Click the Tools icon and select Internet Options.
Select the Content tab.
Click Settings in the Auto Complete section.
Click Delete AutoComplete histoy...
Click OK in Auto Complete Settings
Click OK to exit Internet Options

To clear your saved usernames/passwords in Microsoft Edge:

Go to the Settings menu.
Select Privacy and Security.
Under Clear browsing data, manually select which items you would want to have cleared (in this case, you'd want to make sure that you have Passwords selected), then press Clear.
