Motorola 2210 DSL Modem Setup

Before you begin...

Below is a front and back view of the Motorola 2210. Be certain that the Ethernet cable, phone cable, and power cable are connected properly before continuing setup.


Front Panel - Lights

  • Power: Green when powered.
  • Ethernet: Flashes green when Ethernet is connected.
  • DSL: Solid green when DSL signal detected, blinks when DSL signal is not found.
  • Internet: Green when Internet connection is active, red when Internet connection is down.
  • Activity: Flashes green when connection is in use.

Rear Panel Ports

  • DSL: Plug in an unfiltered phone cord.
  • Ethernet: LAN 4: Plug in an Ethernet cable.
  • Power: Plug in the supplied AC Adaptor.



Configuring the Motorola 2210

  • Browse to http://192.168.1.254.
  • Click the Login link on the blue menu box.
  • On the Login screen, enter your DSL username and password. screenshot
  • You may be prompted to enter an Access Code. You can obtain the access code from a yellow sticker on the bottom of the modem.
  • A screen should now appear saying you have connected successfully. The Internet light on the modem should turn solid green.

Setup is complete.

Advanced Settings

Using Your Own Router

If you wish to use your own router, you will want to disable the router built into the Motorola 2210:

  • With an Ethernet cable plugged directly into the modem, browse to http://192.168.1.254.
  • Click the Advanced link in the blue menu box. The menu will expand, then select Connection Configuration.  screenshot
  • You may be prompted to enter an Access Code. You can obtain the access code from a yellow sticker on the bottom of the modem.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the Connection Configuration Page. Place a dot next to Yes, use public IP address. screenshot
  • Click Save Changes when complete.
You can now configure your router to use a PPPoE connection per the manufacturer's instructions.
