Error
769 occurs when your computer's network card is disabled and can not
contact your DSL modem. This error will only occur if you have a
bridged DSL modem and your computer uses a PPPoE connected to connect
to the Internet. To fix the issue:

Click Start-> Connect To-> Show All Connections.
(in Classic View) Click Start-> Settings-> Network Connections.

Right click on the Local Area Connection icon and select Enable.

Close the Networking window and attempt to connect.
