Android -- My trashcan is missing

Google has implemented an Android mobile platform update that has moved the Trashcan from the forefront when a conversation is selected and instead has moved it to the settings menu after selecting a conversation.
Here are the steps necessary to put it in the forefront once again:
Press the settings button on your Android mobile device and click Settings:
Click on General Settings:
Click on Archive & delete actions and select "Show archive & delete":
Now when selecting email conversations the trashcan will be above as before:
