SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” This is the process of getting traffic pulled to your site by listings on search engines. All major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing use a "scoring system" to determine which sites are the most relevant to a search request, so it is important to optimize your webpages so they score highly. In simple terms, SEO involves writing pages that use keywords, words people use in searches, and securing links from other pages to show how relevant your page is as compared to others. The higher your relevance, the more likely you will be to appear on page 1 of a search. Here are some tips on increasing SEO on your website:
Keywords -- 5-10 keywords per page in meta-tag
Title -- 65 Characters
Description -- This is the first impression of your website to a prospect so make it your best elevator pitch. Your page description should include:
A call for action
Keywords
Be unique for each page of your site
Content -- minimum of 250 words per page. Write content that incorporates your keywords. Don’t write to the Search Engines, make it reader friendly.
Calls for Action -- define who you are as a business, what you do as a business, and what you want the visitor to do -- Buy Now, Click Here, Read More..., etc.
Lead capture forms -- as few lines as possible -- Name, Email Address, Phone Number.
New Content -- your site must consistently be changing. It is recommended to add 1-2 pages to your site per month and post at least 1 Blog post per week.
Robot.txt should be added to your site. Search Engines such as Google use this to help crawl your site.
