Disable Wi-Fi Band Steering on BGW-210
The Wi-Fi Band Steering is on by default and is typically the best way for the modem to provide fast efficient Wi-Fi. There are times turning off the Band Steering and allowing two separate networks works best and is a good troubleshooting method when having Wi-Fi troubles.
To turn off the Band Steering on the modem follow these steps:
Open up your browser and enter in the address down below into the address bar. From there click on "Modify your WiFi security".
You will then be prompted to type in the access code that is on the modem.
Select advanced options then in the Radio selection menu choose the 5Ghz Radio.
Scroll down to the Home SSID section and look for Network Name(SSID). Add "-5G" onto the end of the network name. Scroll down to the bottom and select save.
The modem settings will flash a warning message at you, simply keep clicking continue and move past the messages.
When selecting Wi-Fi on your devices there will be two networks now one of them ending in "-5G". The best practice would be to put devices that require the fastest speeds on the 5G network such as; smart TVs, security cameras, and Laptops/Computers. Typically leave cell phones, tablets, smart devices (Google home or Alexa) on the other network. *Putting all devices on the 5G network might not be beneficial and could cause slow downs.
