Hiding Sender Icons in Your Inbox

Hiding Profile Images in Your Email List

By default, SmarterMail displays a small square image next to each email in your inbox and other mail folders. These images (called "email avatars" within SmarterMail) typically show a company logo, a contact’s profile picture, or a letter representing the sender’s name. They are intended to make it easier to identify who an email is from at a glance.

An example of what these images look like in your message list is shown below:

If you would prefer a cleaner look without these images, you can turn them off by following the steps below:
  1. Click More in the top navigation bar, then select Settings from the drop-down menu
  2. The Settings page will open to the Account tab by default. Locate the Webmail section on this page.
  3. Within the Webmail section, find the option labeled Hide email avatars in the message list. Click the switch to toggle it on. The switch will slide to the right and turn blue, indicating the setting is enabled.
  4. Click Save at the top of the page to apply your changes. The images will no longer appear next to your emails.
If you ever want to turn the images back on, simply return to the same setting and click the switch again to toggle it off.
