How to Enable Bridge Mode on Your Hitron-Coda-4582 Modem (For Users with Their Own Router):
Introduction:
If you prefer to use your own router for more advanced features, you can set your Hitron Coda-4582 modem to bridge mode. This means the modem/router will only act as a modem, passing the public IP address to your personal router, and disabling its router capabilities. Here's how you can set it up:
Steps:
1. Disconnect the coaxial cord from the modem. The coaxial cable is the thicker cable that screws into the back of the modem.
2. Ensure the modem is powered on.
2. Connect to the modems network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
3. Preferably on a computer, access the modem's admin interface through a web browser by going to 192.168.0.1
4. Login to the admin interface with the following credentials
- Username: "cusadmin" or "admin" (all lowercase)
- Password: Default login for your Wi-Fi connection or the one you setup during the first time connection (located on the sheet TOAST.net provided with the modem) 5. Once logged in click on the "Basic" tab at the top of the screen.
6. On the Basic Settings page select the "Gateway Function" tab.
7. Select "Disabled" next to "Residential Gateway Function" .
8. If a warning pops up like the one below, click "OK"
9. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the screen and the changes should be complete.
10. Once changes are saved, plug your 3rd party router into the top yellow LAN port on the back of the modem and the modem will begin to pass all routing responsibilities to your 3rd party router.
Remember:
-With the modem in bridge mode, all router functions of the modem will be turned off. You'll need to manage all routing and Wi-Fi settings through your personal router.
-If you ever wish to revert the settings and use the built-in router of the Hitron-Coda-4582, you can follow the same steps and select `Disable` under the `Bridge Mode` section.
-Alternatively, if you encounter difficulties or simply wish to return the modem to its original settings, performing a modem reset will revert all changes. However, please note that a reset will erase all custom configurations, so ensure you have any important details saved beforehand.
