How to Clear Mailbox Space in SmarterMail

Your mailbox is running low on space. The fastest fix is to upgrade: for only $1 more per month, we'll add 5GB of storage, with no deleting required. Learn more about upgrading or reach out on our support page and click on Support Request.

Prefer to free up space yourself? Follow the steps below.

Warning: Deleted messages are permanent. If we are able to restore deleted mail, a $100 restore fee applies. Review each message before you delete it.

Part 1: Delete Messages You No Longer Need

Most mailboxes are full because of the Inbox, so start there.

  1. Using your web browser, go to start.toast.net and log in. Then click the gold envelope to open SmarterMail.
  2. Click Inbox in the left-hand toolbar.
  3. Use the Filter or Sort button to arrange your emails, then click Select and choose Enable Select Mode to pick the messages you want to remove.
  4. Click the three vertical dots next to the Sort button and select Delete.

Part 2: Purge Your Deleted Items

Deleted messages keep using space until they are removed from the Deleted Items folder. Left alone, they are automatically purged after 90 days.

  1. Click Deleted Items in the left-hand toolbar.
  2. Select the messages you want to remove permanently, then click the three vertical dots next to the Sort button and select Delete.
  3. Click More in the top navigation bar, then select Reports to check how much space you cleared. You may need to refresh your browser for the updated figures to appear.

Still full after cleaning your Inbox? On the Reports page, the Overview tab shows which folders use the most space. Open the Email tab, select that folder, and repeat the steps above.
