Windows XP - Configure Dial-up Manually

 This article walks through setting up your connection within Windows XP.
  1. Click Start and choose Control Panel.

  2. Double click on Internet Options. If you do not see Internet Options, click the link to the left side of the screen that states "Switch to Classic View."

  1. In the Address field within the Home page section of the General tab, enter the following:

  1. Click Apply. Click the Connections tab and click once on the Setup button.

  2. The New Connection Wizard will begin. Click the Next button to continue.

  3. Choose Connect to the Internet and click Next.

  1. Choose Set up my connection manually and click Next.

  1. Choose Connect using a dial-up modem and click Next.

  1. For the ISP Name, type: and click Next.

  1. For the Phone number, type your access number. If you need to enable 10 digit dialing or disable call waiting, enter that information as well. Click Next.

  1. Enter your username and password in the corresponding fields. Also make certain that all of the check marks are selected below the username and password fields. Click Next to continue.

  1. Click Finish.

  2. Double click on Internet Options. Click the Connections tab.

  3. Below the (Default) connection, choose the Always dial my default connection option and click OK. Close the Control Panel.

  1. To connect to the Internet and begin browsing, click Start and select Internet Explorer.
